Meet Tricia!
What inspired you to start Tricia Bachewich Events?Â
From a very young age, I have always been interested in large events and planning/putting together family events. I started off working in the industry in 1999 as a banquet server/dishwasher. Seeing the uniqueness of each event was so interesting to me. After working as a venue manager for nearly a decade, I saw quite a few common struggles of couples planning their day, and gaps in our industry. One of the main faults in our industry was the lack of knowledge available to couples. I chose to start Tricia Bachewich Events, a boutique planning company in 2016 to offer couples pieces of mind, trusted advice and a stress free process for their special day. It was that same year that I decided to take the WPIC certification, and we have only grown from there!
Can you describe your role at Tricia Bachewich Events and some of the key responsibilities you handle on a day-to-day basis?
This is a difficult question as our roles change daily based on the events we have, but here are a few consistent items. My daily responsibilities include email communication with our clients & vendors, initial consultations and monthly client meetings with all of our full planning couples. I also handle all of the finances (accounts payable and receivable) for the company. I oversee all of the items being completed by our lead planners. I work closely with Carley as she creates and designs all of our budgets and mood boards. Jocelyn takes the reign on a lot of our new marketing campaigns and has recently also started assisting Carley with blog posting. A few other responsibilities include social media (luckily Carley handles the vast majority of this) along with being onsite for weddings, rehearsals and events.
What is your favourite wedding trend/design that you are seeing right now?
I absolutely love all of the pops or colours that our clients are infusing into their wedding day. I also really enjoy all of the larger statement pieces that are more common now than before such as large beverage stations. Whether that is a living wall for champagne, or a big signature drink display, those wow factors are my favorites!
What do you enjoy about working in the wedding industry?
I enjoy all of the relationships that I have formed with so many people from every area of the industry. I love that everyday is a little different than the last, which always keeps me interested, excited and ever changing.
What is the best piece of advice you'd give to a couple planning a wedding?
I have quite a few pieces of advice to offer couples planning their wedding days. The first piece is to be reasonable and realistic. I see so many couples come to us with unreasonable budgets or pinboards filled with pieces of furniture from California. It's so easy to get carried away and lost in the sea of inspiration of social media, but remember to be reasonable and realistic. The second is to trust your vendor teams. You hired them for a reason, but your total trust and confidence in their abilities. The third is to make your day uniquely yours. Just because a family member or friend wants or likes something else, remember it's your day, and you have to want it too!
What are some things you enjoy doing when you aren't working?
I work a lot, because I really don't feel like I am working most of the time because I genuinely and whole heartily love what I do. But, when I am not working, I love travelling and camping. We take family trips every year, and I look forward to them all year! I love gardening and tending to my plants. I spend a lot of time with my kiddos and love seeing their little faces light up from something as simple as going on a bike ride after dinner. I enjoy quality family time with my grandparents, either a trip to get ice cream, or a card game with some tea. Those things fill my cup! In the winter when we have a bit more downtime, I tend to get carried away with baking and home improvement projects!
Meet Carley!
What inspired you to join Tricia Bachewich Events? Â
My lifelong love for weddings and romance guided me towards the wedding industry. While pursuing a degree in Social Work, I decided I wanted a more a positive and joy-filled career... and Weddings are just that! Planning my own wedding during the pandemic, while juggling school and full-time work, made me realize that I thrived in the world of wedding planning. Intrigued by the idea, I reached out to Tricia and started with a casual job, eventually transitioning into a full-time role. I am grateful for Tricia's mentorship, the opportunities she provided, and for helping me turn my passion into a fulfilling career. Now, I absolutely love what I do!
Can you describe your role at Tricia Bachewich Events and some of the key responsibilities you handle on a day-to-day basis?
In my role, I wear several hats. Primarily, I manage the social media presence, craft engaging blog posts, and curate weekly emails. On a daily basis, I create timelines and budgets, design mood boards, and collaborate with wedding management couples, overseeing everything from meetings and rehearsals to day-of coordination and vendor communication. Additionally, I handle various miscellaneous projects, adding a dynamic element to my responsibilities. This diverse mix of tasks allows me to contribute to the seamless execution of events while keeping the creative and logistical aspects in harmony.
What is your favourite wedding trend/design that you are seeing right now?
I love the vibrant use of bold colours and the incorporation of couples' personalities into the overall design. Witnessing couples infuse their unique style into every detail adds a special touch that truly makes the event memorable. Additionally, I absolutely love weddings where couples go all out with flowers. The lavish use of floral elements not only enhances the overall design but also elevates the entire wedding to a stunning wow factor.
What do you enjoy about working in the wedding industry?
What I find most enjoyable about working in the wedding industry is the dynamic interplay of creativity. Every day presents new and different challenges, allowing me to constantly explore innovative ideas and solutions. This ever-changing landscape keeps the work fresh and exciting, and I thrive on the opportunity to infuse creativity into each unique wedding project.
What is the best piece of advice you'd give to a couple planning a wedding?Â
The best advice I would give to a couple planning a wedding is to prioritize being present on your special day and not letting minor mishaps overshadow the bigger picture. Focus on the joyous moments and the celebration of your love. Additionally, incorporate into your timeline a dedicated 10-15 minutes for just the two of you. Take this time to soak in the significance of the day and create cherished memories together amidst the festivities. This intentional pause allows you to connect, appreciate, and fully embrace the magic of your wedding day.
What are some things you enjoy doing when you aren't working?
Outside of work, I find joy in various activities. Traveling with my husband is a top priority, and some of my favorite destinations include Greece, Singapore, Vietnam, South Africa, and London. I cherish moments spent with our lovable labradoodle, Poppy, and prioritize quality time with my family! Home design is another passion, and I love the process of fixing up our 1911 home. I love enjoying a cozy ambiance, I enjoy going for coffee with friends, baking, and unwinding while watching a romantic comedy. These pursuits bring balance to my life and add richness to my downtime.
Meet Jocelyn!
What inspired you to join Tricia Bachewich Events? Â
From a very young age my family and I attended a seasonal camping spot in a trailer park that held many events in the summers - ranging from Golf Tournaments to community Dinners and Silent Auctions which we happily participated in for many years! Eventually, my family took over the responsibility of running these events each weekend in the summer and I found the organization and planning behind the events a lot of fun - whereas most people found it super stressful. I knew that when I found planning like this more fun than chaotic that event planning of some sort would be in my future. Bonus points that I LOVE weddings and celebrating bringing people together.
Can you describe your role at Tricia Bachewich Events and some of the key responsibilities you handle on a day-to-day basis?
As one of the Associate Planners with TBE my responsibilities tend to change from week to week, but include many things such as emailing vendors, answering different questions and inquiries from our couples about their planning process, creating and writing blog posts, and engaging with the public on a variety of social media forums! Along with Tricia and Carley, I also assist in brainstorming different ideas we could implement as a team to make the planning process more smooth for ourselves, our couples and fellow vendors!
What is your favourite wedding trend/design that you are seeing right now?
It's hard to choose a favourite with so many unique and different wedding trends I've seen! I definitely love Polaroid guest books, weddings that have any types of photo booths, and the different varieties/styles of desserts for guests in lou of the traditional big wedding cake! Sweets will always be the way to my heart!
What do you enjoy about working in the wedding industry?
My favourite part about the wedding industry is working with so many fun and passionate vendors and people who love weddings as much as I do! I also love seeing the each wedding come together on the day of, and how each couple implements their own personal touches into it. Truly makes for the best day!
What is the best piece of advice you'd give to a couple planning a wedding?Â
The best piece of advice I could give to any couple planning their wedding is to remember that this day is all about you and your partner! From who gets invited, to what you have for dinner and even what you wear, this is YOUR day so don't let anyone else tell you what you should or should not be doing!Â
What are some things you enjoy doing when you aren't working?
When I'm not working with TBE, you can probably find me cozied up with some coffee/hot chocolate (or wine) and relaxing with my partner and our 3 huskies pups (yes 3 LOL they keep me plenty busy). We love to take walks (especially in the snow) around our small town and spend as much time together as we can!
Thank you for investing your time in getting to know our team and discovering the essence of what we stand for! We are genuinely thrilled to meet you and to craft the wedding of your dreams. Your trust means the world to us, and we can't wait to embark on this exciting journey together. Here's to creating unforgettable moments and turning your vision into a reality!
