Vendor Spotlight: Strawberry Lane Flowers

When it comes to florals that feel intentional, artful, and effortlessly romantic, Strawberry Lane Florist is a Winnipeg favourite for a reason. Known for their lush textures, refined palettes, and thoughtful design, their arrangements strike that perfect balance between timeless and on trend.

My name is Kirsten Van DerLinde. I run a small flower farm- Strawberry Lane Flowers, just south of Winnipeg. I serve anyone that has a love for locally grown florals!

I provide Wedding florals, from small intimate elopements to larger scale installations. I also set up at St.Norbert Farmers Market as well as offer Subscription bouquets throughout the summer.

Getting started in the wedding industry happened naturally as people began to love the fresh garden style I offer. The hand-picked from the garden look with flowers grown right here in Manitoba. As the years have gone on, more and more couples have trusted me with the florals for their special day. Each bouquet is so unique to the couple. Nothing gets me more inspired than walking the garden to find the final whimsical touches to a bouquet. Having this ability I think helps set apart my style in the wedding world.

Seeing the look on couples faces as they see their vision come together is the reason I do what I do! There are so many details to a wedding day and so many people gather around the couple to help out. I love seeing a community come together to support love. We are so lucky in Winnipeg to have such an amazing array of experienced wedding vendors to choose from. I love getting to see each vendor put so much care into each individual couple.

Choosing vendors can be a tricky choice when there are so many good options. When choosing a florist I would recommend picking one you truly love their style. Look through everyone's portfolios and see what fits your vibe best. Plus logistics can always play into how a day plays out. Firstly, make sure you reach out as soon as you can when booking vendors to see if they are available. I typically open my books 1 year before the upcoming wedding season. Though I do start a waiting list if you reach out sooner.

My best piece of advice I would offer to couples planning their wedding day is don't get too caught up in the details, in the end it is just one day. Hire vendors who you can trust and know what they're doing and can worry about the details so you can enjoy your special day. On the floral side of things, the more trust you give to me the better it turns out. Couples often give me a colour palette and a few flower varieties they like and leave the rest to me. This way I can see what is looking best in the garden that day and what compliments each other the best.

Favourite wedding trends or designs I'm looking forward to is just more colour and more flowers! I don't think any couple regrets too many flowers for their wedding day. Flowers have the ability to set the whole vibe of the day in such a natural way.
