Vendor Spotlight: Marry Me Hunnie

Today, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on Marry Me Hunnie, a local marriage commissioner company known for creating heartfelt, personalized ceremonies that truly reflect each couple’s love story. Whether you’re planning an intimate elopement or a full-scale wedding celebration, Marry Me Hunnie brings warmth, professionalism, and meaningful storytelling to every “I do.”

1. Who are you, what you do and who you serve?

I have been a marriage commissioner for over fifteen years, and I truly love what I do. During that time, I’ve had the privilege of marrying hundreds of couples and sharing their unique love stories. Becoming a Marriage Commissioner has been one of the most rewarding and meaningful experiences of my adult life.  I believe love is worth celebrating and welcome couples of all backgrounds, identities, and traditions.

Over the years, I’ve been recognized as a WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Award winner and rated among Winnipeg’s top three wedding officiants. I am personable, detail-oriented, and professional, with extensive experience as a public speaker and educator. I also have strong working relationships with many of Manitoba’s wedding vendors and am frequently recommended by local venues.

2. What services do you offer?

Whether couples are planning a large celebration surrounded by family and friends, an intimate gathering with their closest loved ones, or a simple ceremony with just the two of them and their witnesses, I would be honoured to be part of their special day.  My specialty is crafting beautiful custom ceremonies, centered on the couples' love story. I can also be called upon to run a wedding rehearsal, whether or not I am the couples' marriage commissioner.  I also offer coaching services for first time officiants.

3. How did you get started in the wedding industry, and what inspired you to become an officiant?

Fifteen years ago, my husband was reading the newspaper while I was in the middle of a "Say Yes to the Dress" marathon.  I commented to him that we hadn't attended a wedding in over a decade, and no family weddings seemed to be forthcoming.  He put the paper aside and remarked, "Well, I guess you are just going to have to figure out a way to invite yourself to strangers' weddings, then." So I did!

4. What do you enjoy most about working in the wedding industry and serving couples on their special day?

I genuinely enjoy meeting and working with couples as they plan their wedding ceremonies. Hearing their stories, helping them select readings, and crafting vows that reflect their relationship allows them to share their commitment to one another in a heartfelt and meaningful way. Every ceremony I officiate is filled with joy, hope, laughter, and happy tears.

5. What do you believe is the most important consideration when couples are choosing an officiant?

The most important consideration when couples are choosing an officiant is finding someone who resonates with their vision and values for their ceremony. An officiant should not only be a skilled speaker but also someone who genuinely understands and respects the couple's love story. It’s essential for couples to feel a connection and comfort with their officiant, as this will allow for a more personal and authentic ceremony that reflects their unique relationship.

6. What is the ideal timeline for couples to book your services in advance of their wedding day?

I perform between 80 and 100 weddings a year, so the earlier a couple can secure me for their date, the better!  I already have 2027 weddings on my calendar!

7. What is the best piece of advice you would offer to couples planning their wedding?

Your ceremony is the first moment when everyone is gathered in celebration of your special love. You should approach it with intention. When thinking about your ceremony, reflect on the answers to questions like these:

  1. What are your shared values as a couple?

  2. What matters most to you about your ceremony?

  3. What matters most to your partner about your ceremony?

  4. What would make your ceremony memorable?

  5. What would make your ceremony meaningful?

  1. Can you share your favourite wedding trend or design idea that you're currently excited about?

I love it when couples' honour what is important to them.  Grandmas as flowergirls? Yes, please! Your best doggo coming down the aisle?  Count me in! Having your besties, cousins, or grand children line the aisle to hug you as you make your way to the ceremony spot (as opposed to parading in front of you)? Love it!  Gathering guests together and leading the way to the space with music and dancing (instead of having guests seated and the wedding party making an entrance0?  I am all for it!

9. How do you stand out?

I love what I do and I think it shows.

10. Anything else you would like to mention?

I bring a wealth of experience not only as a marriage commissioner, but also as a drama teacher.  I am a creative problem solver!
