Who are you, what you do and who you serve?
My name is Marissa Naylor and I’m a Canadian Wedding and Brand Photographer based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I serve couples, families, and businesses who are looking to have their story told in an authentic way.
What services do you offer?Â
Wedding photography
Couple/Engagements
Branding/Business
How did you get started in the wedding industry, and what inspired you to become a Photographer?
I got started in the wedding industry in 2015 when a few family members got married that summer when I was graduating high school. When they were getting married they asked me to bring my camera for fun to take a few photos, at the time, I wasn’t interested in wedding photography but from that moment on I was hooked.
What inspired me to become a photographer was the joy of seeing people at their happiest with people that make them the happiest. These moments will last forever and since I was little, I believed they should always be photographed and framed in your house.
What do you enjoy most about working in the wedding industry and serving couples on their special day?
Becoming friends with my clients. To me they are more than just people, they are friends who are looking for someone to tell their love story in a way that shows who they are.
What do you believe is the most important consideration when couples are choosing a Photographer?
Choosing a photographer that makes you feel comfortable and like yourself. Your photographer will be with you most of your wedding and you want someone who you are comfortable around and really feels like a friend when you meet them.
What is the ideal timeline for couples to book your services in advance of their wedding day?
Between 4 months – 1 year out
What is the best piece of advice you would offer to couples planning their wedding?
Take time for the two of you. The day goes by fast, and you don’t want to miss on the moments where it’s just the two of you soaking up being present together. Mention this as a priority to your wedding planner and they will make sure to book you time for this.
Can you share your favorite wedding trend or design idea that you are currently excited about?
I love the authenticity people are willing to show in their photos now. The timeless laughter photos are always a classic and a favourite of mine, but mixing in that with couples’ favourite activities, creative blur, and things like that is super fun!
How do you stand out?
I stand out in the way I interact with my clients. Like I said earlier, I’m more than just your photographer, I’m your friend and want to get to know who you are as people beyond just your wedding or session. Getting to know you allows me to create those timeless images where it
showcases who you are, having fun, and images you want to frame in the future.
