Who are you, what do you do and who do you serve?

My name is Reine Demach, I am the owner of Hair by Reine. I have been in the hair industry for 15 years total, and going into my 8th year doing wedding hair. I own a full service studio where I offer haircuts, colours, and extensions. I also own a mobile hair business, which I provide services in and outside of the city, to brides and wedding parties. I also do styling for special events such as grads, showers, socials, etc.

What services do you offer?

I offer mobile, on site wedding and special event styling. I am specialized in styling for South Asian pre wedding and wedding events, and offer pinning of jewelry and traditional clothing and headwear for each event as needed.

How did you get started in the wedding industry, and what inspired you to become a hairstylist?

I started in the wedding industry in 2016 after doing hair for a client for her big day. After that, I had taken on a few more weddings and started posting pictures of my work and the bookings kept coming! Fast forward to 2025, my summer is nearly completely booked and I love being involved in couples most important day! I became a hairstylist as I have always loved styling hair. I have been around hair my whole life, as my mom has been a hairstylist for over 35 years. It’s always been something that I was interested in and loved learning about. I love that hair allows me the freedom to do what I truly enjoy and to be self employed at the same time.

What do you enjoy most about working in the wedding industry and serving couples on their special day?

I love meeting new brides and working with them to create their dream wedding hair. Watching a bride take a look at the final style and watching the reaction is always so rewarding. That is absolutely my favourite part!

What do you believe is the most important consideration when a couple is choosing a hairstylist?

I think the key aspects of choosing a compatible stylist are; Specialization; if you’re looking for a specific look or style, you’ll want to make sure your stylist can deliver that look. You’ll want to make sure that your stylist is comfortable working with your specific hair type. If you have very fine or extra curly hair, it’s best to confirm with your stylist that they are comfortable working with that. I always recommend a trial before the wedding date. This eliminates any chance of something going wrong the day of, disappointment, and to make sure you and your stylist are on the same page. Communication and reliability are big ones too!

What is the ideal timeline for a couple to book your services in advance of the wedding day?

I always recommend booking as soon as possible. Vendors tend to book up quite fast, and if there is a specific one you’d like to work with most, reaching out far in advance is always a good idea.

What is the best piece of advice you would offer to couples planning their wedding?

My biggest piece of advice would be to do exactly what the two of you want to do! Outside opinions can be important, but it is your day and you’ve been planning and waiting for so long, it should be exactly how you both envision it.

Can you share your favourite wedding trend or design idea that you’re currently excited about?

My favourite hair trend is soft, textured and romantic up styles, waves and braids. I am also a fan of the ever popular glam wave. I like styles that are timeless; that you can look back on in 5, 10, 15 years and it’s still on trend.

How do you stand out?

I think my work with south Asian weddings is something that makes me stand out, as there are only few stylists that offer those services and are familiar with the styling, traditions and placements of outfits and jewelry for those events.
