Who are you, what you do and who you serve?

My name is Edel Esguerra from EE Media Productions and we are a video production company. We do all sorts of video and photography for several industries such as Real Estate, Corporate and Events, and our favorite of them all - weddings.

What services do you offer?

In regards to the wedding industry, we offer video coverage for our couples. The basic package includes anything and everything you may need such as the 6-8 minute highlight video, a full ceremony video, a full reception speeches video, and all the Raw Footage! We have a much more comprehensive package which is the Extended Package but for most of our couples, the Standard Package comes with everything they may need to fully preserve the memory of their wedding through our videos.

How did you get started in the wedding industry, and what inspired you to become a videographer?

I would love to share my story of how I got started! In the summer of 2020, I picked up a Go-Pro Camera and I started filming travel videos as I spent most of my summer weekends going on day-trips around Manitoba. I then edited those videos and the entire process of crafting something out of my imagination and vision intrigued me. I picked up my first entry level camera late 2020 and I started to offer my services for free to local business and a few of my business connections in the city. I shot a real estate listing for Sheraz Ali and I marketed that listing to other realtors in the city and I then met Adrian Auriti, an up and coming realtor back then. How I tapped into the wedding industry is back in February 2021, I went to The Forks and asked 7 couples if I can film them a free "Wedding-Themed" video, all 7 of them said no, and the 8th couple finally said yes! I used that video to market our services and in 2021, we booked 16 weddings, and the name EE Media since then grew in reputation with a lot of hard work and grit!

What do you enjoy most about working in the wedding industry and serving couples on their special day?

The wedding industry is by far my favorite industry to be in, I can't narrow it to one reason so here are my 3 reasons why:

  1. The first reason is on a wedding day, my team and I gets to be a part of one of the most significant days in a couples life. The wedding day is a celebration of years of love, trials, little and momentous moments and they unite and tie the knot on their wedding day and we are always thankful and blessed to be able to preserve their wedding day through our videos.

  2. The second reason are all the amazing, kind and wonderful vendors that we work with. I have had the opportunity to meet and get to know a lot of really cool and amazing people through the industry and have established meaningful relationships from it as well.

  3. The third reason is that after the wedding, I then am able to recreate our couples wedding day through our video. The video allows our couples to relive the magic of their wedding day for years, decades and for a lifetime - just the thought and idea that I am tasked to do such an important job for a couple is so special and is one of the reasons why I enjoy it so much.

What do you believe is the most important consideration when couples are choosing a videographer?

I think one of the most important decisions when choosing a videographer are the deliverables they offer in their package. I am firm believer that a couple should not only preserve their wedding through the photos but with the video as well. Weeks, months, years after your wedding, you would have forgotten your vows, the speeches that were said in your reception, the motion and movement of your first dances and everything else in between. Having a videographer allows you to fully relive your wedding day which is the reason why our standard package comes with everything you may need to fully preserve your wedding day.

What is the ideal timeline for couples to book your services in advance of their wedding day?

I always recommend that our couples book their wedding videographer sooner than later as they are only a few wedding videographers in Winnipeg so bookings can fill up pretty fast! If they have booked their wedding photographer, I can suggest that they ask their photographer for a recommendation as having a photographer and videographer work well alongside each at your wedding is crucial if you want to maximize the quality of your photos and wedding videos.

What is the best piece of advice you would offer to couples planning their wedding?

My best piece of advice is if your budget allows, hire a wedding planner! The main reason is because the wedding planner works alongside their preferred vendors and those preferred vendors are able to provide discounted rates on their services should the couple wish to hire the preferred vendor under the wedding planner. In turn, the couple not only has a smoother and more enjoyable wedding planning experience, but they also save money on working with preferred vendors and they have the peace of mind that the vendors on their wedding day is reputable and tried-and-tested.

Can you share your favorite wedding trend or design idea that you're currently excited about?

Our company is all about preserving your wedding day, with this in mind, my favorite wedding trend right now is the Audio Guest Book! This is a vintage phone, normally found at receptions, that your guests can pickup and allows them to record a speech greeting. It is a nice gesture that is also interactive for the guests.

How do you stand out?

I believe that every wedding video that a videographer produces is a work of art, however, in my opinion, how we stand out is through our visuals and story telling with the video. We take pride in making our visuals look appealing and this is done through a few technical aspects in how we film and the equipment we use. We also take pride in story-telling when editing the videos. We incorporate a lot of vows and speeches in the wedding video, this makes your wedding truly unique and truly yours.

Anything else you would like to mention?

I encourage everyone getting married to have a videographer for their wedding even if it is not a professional videographer. A close friend or relative would be just fine! Weeks, months, years down the line, the vows, reception speeches, the first dances, laughter's, and the little moments in your wedding day would have been forgotten. Having a videographer film these moments allows you to relive your wedding day. In fact, one of the biggest regrets a couple has when planning their wedding is not having a videographer - Google: "what is the most common regret when planning your wedding"
