Who are you, what you do and who you serve?
I am Aimee de la Lande, owner and lead photographer for Aimee de la Lande Photographer. I specialize in Wedding, family & branding photography in Winnipeg & surrounding areas.
How did you get started in the wedding industry, and what inspired you to become a Photographer?
I second shot for roughly 6 years with other professional photographers in the wedding industry to gain the skill, experience and confidence to start my own business. I’ve always loved documenting memories from a young age, the passion was inspired by my grandparents whom always had boxes of polaroids and old photographs that we would often spend time looking through. I love tangible memories, even the mundane ones.
What do you enjoy most about working in the wedding industry and serving couples on their special day?
I love having the chance to capture a couples love story and their curated aesthetics that represent them on the day. I especially love capturing the candid moments they might otherwise miss in the busyness of the day. I also love helping clients feel organized and confident in their wedding day schedule when a planner is not involved.
What do you believe is the most important consideration when couples are choosing a Photographer?
Making sure they are not only hiring someone with experience and professionalism, but that they have taken the time to look at their style and feedback from other couples. It’s also important to make sure your personalities jive well together, after all, you are going to be spending most of your day with your photographer.
What is the ideal timeline for couples to book your services in advance of their wedding day?
12-18 months in advance.
What is the best piece of advice you would offer to couples planning their wedding?
Make sure you are confident in your personal aesthetic & the editing style of how you want your finished photographs to look. I have heard on several occasions that a couple wished they had taken the time to really hone in on their preferred style and that of the photographer.
Can you share your favorite wedding trend or design idea that you're currently excited about?
If I’m being honest, I’m not hugely into trends. I do love & prefer when a couple simply chooses a detail that best represents them on their wedding day, if it so happens to revolve around a lot of flowers, then I’m extra excited for that! I LOVE flowers, so if this is an important detail of your wedding day, then I am the right photographer for you!
How do you stand out?
I never like to think I stand out per say, my style is clean & classic and will always remain that way - I want my clients to love their photos in 5, 10 … 25 years from now. There are so many amazingly talented photographers out there so it’s hard to find something that comes to mind that stands out in style. I would say that my personableness & energetic nature is always mentioned by couples.
